It Started with a Token.... How did our custom "vintage" bracelets start?
While attending the vintage ephemera shows throughout the country, I noticed that there were a few original love token bracelets either for sale or on display. These bracelets were originally worn as gifts of love with initials of the wearer's loved ones. I began to research the history and significance of love tokens. The more information I found on love tokens, the more questions I had about these engraved coins. It was after seeing how the tokens were worn by loved ones that I decided to create my own bracelet. Many tokens of this era were carved on dimes. After l found enough love tokens to complete a bracelet, the question was whether to make an all love token bracelet or to add other jewelry pieces to compliment the tokens. My choice was to have an updated version of the love token bracelet. The bracelet was designed to maintain the integrity of past, yet still be interesting and fun to wear. I added vintage charms to my bracelet that followed the theme of love tokens.
(Later custom bracelets included vintage charms that symbolized the giver or the receiver. One bracelet included a vintage camera charm. The husband is a professional photographer for a local newspaper.)
